Myths abound in the north when it comes to techno ground zero, and they refuse to go away. Oliver Huntemann is one of a handful of children of the north who, for what seems like an eternity, add an element of credence to the mythology. He does not, of course, live in a snowy forest or at the edge of the polar oceans. The sun does, on occasion, shine down on Hamburg. Nevertheless, there is a tendency towards hypothermic reduction in the rigorous efficiency of the Huntemann oeuvre. Images of cold storage warehouses, desolate heavy plant sites and bluish flesh are not entirely misplaced. Shards of German Engineering glimmer in his music, laced with persuasive logic, gruesome Darwinism. What remains: what works.

The 4 piece live show sees the band play a mix of future classics and past monsters over 90 minutes, typical of their explosive high energy sets they’re famous for.

After twenty-five years making waves in the scene, Infected Mushroom has earned their reputation as a groundbreaking legend in electronic music. Twice ranked amongst the world’s ten best DJs by DJ Magazine, with streaming numbers in the tens of millions and a cult following of die-hard fans, the Israel-bred, LA-based duo has created one of the most powerful kingdoms in the world of electronic music.

Infected is world-renowned for their sonic innovations, genre-defying sound, and unrivaled production quality. This trademark sound is cultivated through hypnotic arrangements, layered melodies, and a willingness to blur the lines of genre.

After blazing into the hearts and minds of the international music community with a modernized twist on low-end house and indebted four-to-the-floor, Amine Edge & DANCE look set to continue their meteoric rise with another string of sell out shows and prime-time festival slots.

Hailing from Southern France, Amine Edge & DANCE have built their own musical empire, drawing inspiration from early House, Phili Soul, Hip-Hop & everything in between. The men from Marseille have set out developing their own signature sound & are starting to show their true talent & versatility as producers. The pair recently released, ‘FCK UR OPINION’ EP via Desolat, helmed by the legendary Loco Dice, which featured 3 monster techno tracks oozing hard bass & showcasing another slightly darker side of the AE&D sound. 2017 has seen a slew of new singles including the landmark 50th release on their burgeoning label CUFF, a collaboration with velvet vocalist SerGy, that garnered support from Pete Tong at Radio 1.

In 2016, the globe-trotting duo capped another phenomenal year by being crowned winners of the “Bass” category at the 2016 DJ Awards. To become the cream of the sub-laden crop, Amine Edge & DANCE had to fend off the challenge of an internationally renowned group of bass-heavy heavyweights including Andy C, Chase and Status, Hannah Wants, DJ EZ and more. This was testament to their longevity and musical evolution, from bass-heavy hip-hop infused up-starts to heavyweight headline act.

the dandys

Causing unnecessary unrest and worry, Brisbane/ Meanjin alt-rockers, The Dandys, have come out with a statement about their whereabouts over the past 6-months with a backhanded apology in the form of a belting new single titled 'Sorry' (Out Friday, April 12).

After a massive year in 2023 that saw The Dandys perform at Splendour In The Grass, showcase at BIGSOUND, release their debut EP and go on tour with Hope D, the band seemingly vanished.

Efforts were made to track down the members after they made the promise of "Big things coming soon", but fans and their entourage were left hanging until now. Nonchalant to the trouble they caused, The Dandys are deflecting their irresponsible behaviour, noting that they didn't really mean anything by it, along with a list of other things they didn't mean to do, penned in this cathartic anthem 'Sorry'.

Back in full form, The Dandys will be making the rounds throughout the East Coast in May and June. Stopping in at Elsewhere on the Gold Coast on Friday May 31st with Special Guests Tomorrows Forecast and Yours To Keep.

Welcoming back Defected Records queen "Sam Divine"

A born entertainer with a burning desire to play music to people around the world, Sam Divine’s enigmatic sets are an effortless schooling in pure, unadulterated house. From her early days as the sole member of the Defected street team in Ibiza to fronting their radio show and now headlining some of the world’s biggest clubs and festivals, The First Lady of Defected, has become an intrinsic part of the UK house music scene. The seeds of Sam’s DJ career can be traced back to a pair of belt drive turntables and a battered Numark mixer set up in her Mum’s shed; a pirate radio show broadcast from her bedroom using ‘borrowed’ equipment from the local college and MSN Messenger, and time spent expanding her musical knowledge working at Spin Central in her hometown of Weston-super-Mare and Chemical Records in Bristol. A chance encounter with then Defected Radio host, Aaron Ross, in Notting Hill in the early 00s, led Sam to Ibiza where she quickly became an integral figure in the West End. Since then she’s played at some of the island’s biggest clubs year upon year, holding down residencies at Pacha, Mambo, Amnesia, Eden and Ushuaïa, and sharing space with some of the greatest names in dance including Frankie Knuckles, Master’s At Work, MK, DJ Spen, KiNK, Sandy Rivera and The Shapeshifters.

Sam launched her own highly successful imprint, DVINE Sounds, in 2015. To date, the label has seen 58 releases, helping to propel talented up and coming artists into the spotlight. Her own foray into production began with a remix of the classic garage anthem ‘Flowers’ that proved a hit, reaching the top spots on Traxsource and Beatport. A remix of Amira’s 1997 garage hit, ‘My Desire’, followed in 2019. In 2020 DVINE will celebrate its fifth birthday with the label evolving as a brand with events, boat parties, a stage at We Are FSTVL and a return to ADE. Sam will also launch Round Our House, a series of parties that encapsulate an intimate, house party vibe. 2019 was a year of firsts for Sam with her debut appearance at London’s Printworks venue, where she returned on New Year’s Day alongside her Defected crew. In September she was invited by Radio 1 tastemaker Pete Tong to record a coveted Essential Mix – a true marker of how far her career has come. 2019 also marked Divine’s first Mixmag Lab NYC set. All this on top of touring globally, playing 21 festivals worldwide, an epic gig at the top of London’s iconic Tower Bridge and raising over £40,000 for Breast Cancer Research through her charity D-Vita. Sam shows no sign of slowing down in 2020 with a number of Defected parties already in the diary, a return to the festival circuit, an Australasian tour and solo tours throughout North America and Canada. December will also see the return of last year’s sold-out Openers tour with Sam playing all night long across two weekends in December. 2020 brings new music in collaboration with Australian DJ and producer, Kormak, on Defected as well as a new EP on her own label. With her passion and dedication to her music beyond doubt, Sam Divine is a musician who will continue to evolve and grow.
