Australian-based trio The Lonesomes are set to captivate with their latest single, ‘Locket’, venturing out on their first East Coast tour this Oct/Nov.
In ‘Locket’ The Lonesomes venture beyond their established post-punk sound, drawing inspiration from unexpected genres such as EDM, drum and bass (DnB), and hip-hop. This departure from their traditional influences—like Joy Division and The Cure—marks a deliberate effort to infuse their music with fresh, innovative textures.
Frontman Matt Callan articulates "We wanted to experiment beyond our usual comfort zone and explore styles people might not expect from us. While the classic post-punk influences remain, we’ve broadened our palette to keep things different. We don’t want to be that band that just releases the same song 100 times, So we try and keep each release different from the last which keeps us on our toes."
The Lonesomes have built a reputation for electrifying live performances, sharing stages and festival bills with a roster of Australian icons, including The Chats, Bad Dreams, Ruby Fields, Mini Skirt, and Dune Rats. As they continue to push the envelope with their experimental sound, "Locket" promises to further solidify their status as one of Australia’s most exciting up and coming and genre-defying bands.
